AP Pharmacy students practiced taking their blood sugar with the blood glucose monitoring device called glucometers last Friday, Nov. 7.

“As a Pharmacy Tech, these are devices they could help the patient with, so we are familiarizing ourselves with it,” Pharmacy teacher Mr. Scott said.

Students learned how to properly load the needle into the lancet device and how to place the strips in the glucometer device.

“It was so interesting,” senior Julia Landovar said. “After practicing, I am prepared to help customers who have questions.”

Senior Kassidy Ferguson checked her blood sugar and was a little frightened at first.

“At first I was nervous, but once he [Mr. Scott] taught me, it was easy from there,” she said.

The Pharmacy students are preparing to take their exam in May to become Pharmacy Techs.
