The Calallen Wildcat Band will have their first performance of the year at Whataburger Field on Monday, August 27, 2018. They will be performing the Star Spangled Banner.

“Personally, I am nervous because it is my first performance,” freshman trumpet player Arianna Canales said.

The band has been practicing during the summer and two hours after school every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.

“I practice during the morning, during tutorials and then we practice during an ensemble class,” Canales said. “The Star Spangled Banner is our warm up for our [halftime] show, so we have a lot of practice.”

For freshmen, this will be their first performance on a field.

“It’s new for me,” Canales said. “On a stage you can hear everything and you don’t have to play as loud, whereas on a field-a baseball field- you are projecting to way more people.”

The band will perform their first halftime show of the school year next Friday night at the football game.
