Calallen High School is filled with many students who strive for excellence. The National Honor Society is an organization which recognized those students who portray high levels of character, leadership, and service. Students have recently been handed a packet which invited them to be a part of the organization. Requirements to be invited to the organization include having a minimum of a 4.5 GPA and 35 service hours.

The deadline to turn in the packet was Friday, Feb. 16, 2017. Students will find out the results on Monday, March 5, 2017. The Induction Ceremony will take place on Monday, March 26, 2018 in the auditorium at 6:00 pm.

The packet asked to list numerous events in which the students had volunteered in.

“With the help of my church, I was able to rack up 40 hours from volunteering in a program called, Sea City,” junior Randi Reyes said.

The National Honor Society is an organization many students have to work hard to be a part of.

“Hardwork and dedication to not only my school work, but also my work to my community has helped me to become a member of the National Honor Society,” current junior member Kenzie Keeble said.

Sophomores all the way through seniors are able to be invited to the organization.

“As a senior I have been hoping to be a member of NHS ever since I have been a freshman,” senior Anjolee Mirabal said, “With the help of my volunteer work, and dedication to my school work I have been selected to be a member of this amazing organization”.

Students beginning from sophomore level to seniors have had the drive to become a member of the National Honor Society. Persistent hardwork and service activities have led each individual to be invited to the organization.
