Girls’ Basketball has high hopes for their upcoming season.

“I’ve played basketball since the 7th grade,” Zenetta Hinojosa said. “We are very competitive and work well together, so I’m excited for our games.”

To add to the excitement, Girls’ Basketball will be receiving new equipment.

“The booster club has been working really hard on different fundraisers to raise money for all the different sports,” Hinojosa said. “Varsity is getting shoes and new practice jerseys, which means the Freshman and JV teams get their old ones.”

With competitive play just around the corner, players like freshman Kailynn Noe are working hard to prepare.

“Flour Bluff will be our toughest competition for sure,” Noe said. “They have a strong defense and are very aggressive when they play. In order to get ready we have been working on many offensive drills and plays.”

Grace Oden, being the head coach’s daughter, feels she has to work harder than ever for this team.

“He definitely expects more from me,” Oden said. “People may think that coach’s daughters would make the team just ’cause, but the truth is they are held to a higher standard, and are always expected to do their best. I’m just ready to go out there and give it my all.”
