Requested by Dr. Arturo Almendarez, all students are encouraged to attend the Youth Opportunity Unlimited Career Expo next Thursday on May 11 from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm. This is the first time Calallen has allowed students to attend this exclusive opportunity which will provide students an opportunity to explore future careers. Students are not forced to attend, but they are highly encouraged since this will prepare them for their life after high school.

The Youth Opportunity Unlimited (YOU) is an organization which aids students in their journey to their future career by connecting students with future employers.

According to Workforce Solution of the Coastal Bend, high school students will be provided with the opportunity to explore in-demand careers in areas related to STEM, business, and healthcare. Students will also learn about professional skills, trades, and public services.

By going students will be given the opportunity to connect with representatives from universities, colleges, military, and local training schools.

“This field trip is a big opportunity for us sophomores to help us find a career we want to explore,” sophomore Nakiah Marrufo said.

Overall, this field trip will allow students to prepare and plan for their futures.

“This trip is very beneficial since Career Expo can reflect on what we are planning to do with our lives,” sophomore Ivory Garza said.
