The Beach to Bay Relay Marathon is a 29 mile race that will take place at North Padre Island on May 20th 2017.
This event is to celebrate Armed Forces Day, and honor men and women who serve and protect our country.
Beach to Bay has become a tradition for running enthusiasts across the world. The Relay Marathon has attracted more than 2,500 teams from all across the world, like Kenya, England, Mexico, and Canada according to Ahotu Marathons.
Junior Yaletsi Ramos participates in this relay to honor her uncle, who was in the military 10 years ago.
“I have been a part of this race going on five years ago now, and I have enjoyed every part of it,” Ramos said.
When Ramos first began running Beach to Bay, she knew it was going to mean something.
When I first heard about the marathon five years ago, I got really interested in it,” Ramos said.
“Since I knew my uncle was in the military, and I heard what the marathon was for Armed Forces day, so I knew I had to join to show my uncle that I appreciate him for everything he has done for me and this country.”
The Beach to Bay Relay Marathon is a great way to show respect and honor our military and to remember the fallen.
