Calallen High School’s track team participated in the Gregory Portland on Saturday, February 18, 2017. Twenty-three teams from the South Texas region competed in the events. The boys and girls from Calallen participated in their respective field events and running events.
Jackson Lanam, a junior on the track team, placed 1st in the 110 Hurdles event at the invitational.
“It’s all about mentality and practicing, you’ve got to keep your head straight and keep your eyes locked on your goals,” Lanam said.
Sophomore Rivers Roy, placed 2nd in the 110 Hurdles event at GP.
“The whole experience is tough, being in the fast movement of competition, sweat dripping, and your body’s hurting, but you just gotta push through and finish,” Roy shares.
Coleman Raska, a junior, competed in the varsity 300 Hurdles and placed 1st.
“The 300 is a difficult race, but I’ve worked hard and long, and have pursued victory with my coaches, and we’ve earned it,” Raska said.
